Futures for Dow Jones Industrial Average  YMM5,  +0.20%   were last up 41 points, or 0.2%, to 17,920, bouncing back from early losses, while those for the S&P 500 ESM5,  +0.19%   gained 4 points, or 0.2%, to 2,095. NEW YORK (MarketWatch) — U.S. stock futures pared some of the losses on Friday after consumer inflation data showed prices tumbled in December, thanks largely due to falling energy costs. Consumer prices fell in December by the largest amount since 2008 and the inflation index has been trending lower over the past 12 months, well below the Federal Reserve’s target of 2%. Many investors are betting that falling inflation would keep the Fed from raising interest rates even if labor market strengthens further. U.S. stocks: Futures rally as market cheers a ‘less-aggressive’ Fed MADRID (MarketWatch) — U.S. stock futures pointed to a powerful opening rally for Wall Street on Thursday, as global markets and other assets soared on the view that the Federal Reserve will take a slow and steady approach to rising interest rates after its last meeting of the year.
