U.S. stocks drop on Europe, corporate outlook-Marketwatch: Stocks fall for a fourth session as the U.S. dollar advances on uncertainty over Europe, and engine maker Cummins Inc. reduces its sales forecast, adding to concerns about second-quarter earnings.

By Kate Gibson NEW YORK (MarketWatch) -- U.S. stocks fell Wednesday, with the Dow industrials DJIA -0.75% off for a sixth session, its longest losing streak since August 2011, as the political upheaval in Greece and concern about Spanish banks shook investor confidence. The Dow fell 97.03 points, or 0.8%, to 12,835.06. The blue-chip index has lost 444.26 points, or 3.3%, in the six-session decline. The S&P 500 SPX -0.67% dropped 9.14 points, or 0.7%, to 1,354.58. The Nasdaq Composite COMP -0.39% retreated 11.56 points, or 0.4%, to 2,934.71.

The Dow Jones Industrial Average DJIA -0.02% lost 2.73 points, or 0.02%, to 12,977.57. It lost 0.04% for the week, only its third weekly loss this year. Midweek, the blue-chip index closed above 13,000 for its first time since 2008. The S&P 500 SPX -0.33% ended down 4.46 points, or 0.3%, to 1,369.63, up 0.3% for the week.
