The Federal Reserve Board on Tuesday announced its approval of the application under section 3 of the Bank Holding Company Act by CIT Group, Inc., Livingston, New Jersey, to acquire IMB Holdco LLC and thereby indirectly acquire its wholly owned subsidiary, OneWest Bank, National Association, both of Pasadena, California.

The Federal Trade Commission today asserted that LifeLock violated a 2010 settlement with the agency and 35 state attorneys general by continuing to make deceptive claims about its identity theft protection services, and by failing to take steps required to protect its users’ data.
In documents filed with the U.S. District Court for the District of Arizona, the FTC charged that LifeLock failed to live up to its obligations under the 2010 settlement, and asked the court to impose an order requiring LifeLock to provide full redress to all consumers affected by the company’s order violations.

FTC Asserts LifeLock Failed to Institute Security Program And Misled Consumers About Its Identity Protection Services

The Federal Trade Commission today asserted that LifeLock violated a 2010 settlement with the agency and 35 state attorneys general by continuing to make deceptive claims about its identity theft protection services, and by failing to take steps required to protect its users’ data.
In documents filed with the U.S. District Court for the District of Arizona, the FTC charged that LifeLock failed to live up to its obligations [hyperlink to the Notice of Lodging Proposed Documents here pls] under the 2010 settlement, and asked the court to impose an order requiring LifeLock to provide full redress to all consumers affected by the company’s order violations.
“It is essential that companies live up to their obligations under orders obtained by the FTC,” said Jessica Rich, Director of the FTC’s Bureau of Consumer Protection. “If a company continues with practices that violate orders and harm consumers, we will act.”

The Federal Reserve on Tuesday announced the members of the steering committees of both the Faster Payments Task Force and Secure Payments Task Force described in the Strategies for Improving the U.S. Payment System paper released in January 2015. Representatives were elected by the membership to represent stakeholder categories within each task force. Two appointments were made by the Federal Reserve task force chair to ensure that stakeholder perspectives were sufficiently represented.

Wall Street braced for a mixed open Tuesday as U.S. stock-index futures struggled for direction on a day likely to be dominated by earnings reports from high-profile companies, including IBM, with few significant economic reports on tap.
Nasdaq-100 index futures NQU5, +0.03%  added 3.5 points, or 0.1%, to 4,674.75, on track for a fourth straight session in record territory. The Nasdaq Composite Index COMP, +0.17% ended at an all-time closing high on Monday as markets extended a recent relief rally, which has been spurred by better-than-expected earnings and calm in Greece’s bailout saga.

Chinese stocks rise as Shenzen gains 20% on July low

China stocks continued edging higher Tuesday, pushing the gains in the smaller Shenzhen Composite to more than 20% from the market low on July 8.
The Shenzhen index 399106, +1.56% increased 1.6% to 2265.1, rallying 20.2% from its low, the unofficial mark of a bull market. Shares are still down 27.9% from their peak last month.
The bigger Shanghai Composite Index SHCOMP, +0.64% ticked 0.6% higher to 4017.67. Gaining for the fourth-straight session, the index has bounced 14.6% from its recent low but is still off 22.2% from its June 12 peak.
