Mining Interactive : Tasman Joint Ventures Further Iron Ore Projects in Sweden to Beowulf Mining: July 12th., 2010

July 12, 2010

TASMAN METALS LTD.
TSXv - TSM; Frankfurt - T61 (WKN A0Y GN1); Pinksheets – TASXF

"The Tasman Metals Rare Earth Story"

TASMAN JOINT VENTURES (JVs) FURTHER IRON ORE PROJECTS IN SWEDEN TO ‘BEOWULF MINING’ A LONDON AIM (SYMBOL: BEM) LISTED AND SCANDINAVIAN FOCUSED MINERAL EXPLORATION COMPANY, SPECIALIZING IN IRON ORE

  • Tasman shall receive 691,921 ordinary shares in Beowulf and will retain a 1.5% Net Smelter Return (NSR).

Mark Saxon, Tasman Metals President & CEO:
“Tasman’s exploration focus is on its European REE assets, in particular the Company’s Norra Karr project in south central Sweden where calculation of an independent resource will soon begin”
The Company has chosen to share exploration risk and ensure exploration is advanced on non-core iron ore projects by joining with a partner holding adjacent iron ore claims.  This portfolio reinforces Beowulf’s strong holdings in the Jokkmokk region, and gives potential for further near surface iron ore discoveries.  We look forward to working with Beowulf’s experienced management team, and following the success of the projects.”

Dear Friends:

The Iron Ore JV now with Beowulf Mining as well as the previously announced JV with Scandinavian Resources (June 3, 2010) allows Tasman to continue and focus on its Rare Earth projects while maintaining a substantial interest in its highly prospective Iron Ore projects.

My family and I, as shareholders of Tasman, are very pleased with these latest commercial moves by Tasman’s Management Team.

Monday's Personal Finance stories

By MarketWatch

Don't miss these top stories:

Are we headed into the second lurch of a double-dip recession? Plenty of people think so, but how much of that negative outlook is based on rumor versus cold, hard facts?

Read Dave Kansas's column today for a look at some economic data that point to a decidedly more positive outlook than the double-dippers would have you believe. Plus, don't miss our profile of MarketWatch's forecaster of the month -- an economist who says the economic recovery is still on track.

Whichever way the economy goes from here, this has already been a tough year for investors. Read Jonathan Burton's midyear look at our 2010 investment themes, including ideas for how to re-aim your portfolio for the second half of the year.

-- Andrea Coombes , Personal Finance editor

Why the doomsayers are wrong

As the mercury rises, most of us would prefer to hear the word "dip" only in relation to pools, lakes or beaches. Unfortunately, the doom-mongers have hijacked this word and incorporated it into their latest dark scenario: a double-dip recession.
See story on why the doomsayers are wrong.

Positives outweigh the negatives

The U.S. economy has lost some momentum in the past month or two, but the recovery is still on track, according to the best forecaster on the street in June.
See Forecaster of the Month.

INVESTING

2010 investment ideas that hit -- and missed

The old market adage to "sell in May and go away" sure has a nice ring to it nowadays, with U.S. stocks posting double-digit losses since their late April peak.

Commentary: A new aisle for the financial supermarket

Wal-Mart's chain of Sam's Club stores recently announced plans to partner with a lender to offer small-business loans of up to $25,000 for its members. And the move may be a sign of things to come in the financial world -- and for mutual funds.
See Chuck Jaffe.

Absolute-return funds: not always what they seem

So-called absolute-return funds -- portfolios that purport to deliver gains in any market environment -- are hot. But many aren't living up to their billing.

How you can lose when funds pass the baton

Get ready for a cataclysmic market crash (or maybe not)

Could the Dow really drop 90%? Earlier this month, in an interview that was widely circulated online, market analyst Robert Prechter predicted that the Dow Jones Industrial Average will fall below 1,000 within the next six years. The Dow promptly surged back above 10,000, but it is worth asking whether Mr. Prechter might be right anyway.

TRAVEL

Look to smaller airports for cheaper flights

The residents of Bellingham, Wash., may not realize it, but flying out of the international airport there is the cheapest route to almost anywhere in the U.S.

CAREERS

The job switch

Let's get right to the point: After ending the Love & Money column nearly two years ago, I'm now returning. Starting today, I will be doing what I did for more than six years -- focusing on the personal in personal finance, detailing the inner workings of my family's financial life. I'll be writing biweekly, sharing this space with Yoder & Sons.

So you're the new boss

You finally got that promotion and now you're the new boss. Things might not feel much different in the beginning, but managing former peers requires a major adjustment on both ends. How you handle the change at the outset can affect the long-term harmony and productivity of the group.

CARS

2011 Kia Sorento EX

While looking up what a Sorento is (there is no such word in my dictionary) it was discovered that by adding an R to the name a computer search could be diverted to a very high-society hotel along the Sorrento Coast of Italy. It features "prestige and elegance" along with "art fooding" and a budget-busting bill for just a one-night stay.
