Gold researcher Ronan Manly writes today that, at the prodding of the U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission, the Bank of England has been officially identified as a "subcustodian" for the gold exchange-traded fund GLD, and this supports suspicion that leased or swapped central bank gold is being used to manage the gold price. Manly adds that the refusal of central banks to provide identification for their gold bars indicates that they are striving to conceal their gold price management.
