Gata Dispatches: "Kremlin aide sees gold gaining importance in reserves "

Submitted by cpowell on 07:59AM ET Friday, June 5, 2009. Section: Daily Dispatches From RIA Novosti, MoscowFriday, June 5, 2009http://en.rian.ru/business/20090605/155179133.htmlST. PETERSBURG, Russia -- Gold could start playing a more important role in Russia's reserves due to the influence of regional currencies, a Kremlin aide said on Friday.Addressing the St. Petersburg International Economic Forum, Russian President Dmitry Medvedev earlier said the structure of the global currency system would inevitably change with the increasing role of regional reserve currencies, and called for a reassessment of the potential role of gold in the global currency system."I do not think it [gold] will replace everything else -- it would be naive and unjustified. But the growing role of gold amid the crisis could be a topic of discussions in the near future," Arkady Dvorkovich told the TV channel Vesti. He ruled out a return to the gold standard monetary system.

Gata Dispatches: "Feds arrest Liberty Dollar founder and three associates "

Submitted by cpowell on 04:49AM ET Friday, June 5, 2009. Section: Daily Dispatches 7:45a ET Friday, June 5, 2009Dear Friend of GATA and Gold:Liberty Dollar founder Bernard von NotHaus reports today that he and three associates in the Liberty Dollar operation were arrested by federal agents this week as the U.S. government began to prosecute them criminally for issuing the gold and silver Liberty Dollar currency. Fortunately the arrests were civilized and now the issue may be determined in court with some degree of due process of law and some chance of restoration of limited government. You can find von NotHaus' account of the arrests at the Liberty Dollar Internet site here:

FGC says: Why so much noise?

By Fernando Guzmán Cavero:

Friday, 05 June 2009

Amazing the reaction of the stock market for a raise in the stock price of Goldman Sachs which increased 5.2 %. But who is Goldman Sachs?

The Goldman Sachs Group, Inc. is a leading global financial services firm providing investment banking, securities and investment management services to a substantial and diversified client base that includes corporations, financial institutions, governments and high-net-worth individuals. Founded in 1869, the firm is headquartered in New York and maintains offices in London, Frankfurt, Tokyo, Hong Kong and other major financial centers around
the world (1).

Morgan Stanley: up 5%. Again who is Morgan Stanley?
Morgan Stanley Smith Barney's new industry-leading franchise with over 18,500 Financial Advisors is a combination of the world's top wealth management brands offering clients an unrivalled global platform, intellectual capital and research resource (2).

What about Retailers:

J.C. Penny: Down 2%

Abercrombie and Fitche's down: 28 %

Saks down: Down 20 % . And the list continue.

Why so much noise out there in the media?

(2) Taken from the website of Morgan Stanley

Take your own conclusion?

Wellcome commentaries, as always.
